ALL pupils and staff at St Augustine’s Priory, Ealing, the Catholic Independent School for girls, joined for an act of Remembrance on Thursday.
As the sound of Elgar’s Nimrod carried over the school grounds, girls dressed as ranks of soldiers and nurses stood still against the backdrop of the Priory.
The bursar read To Germany by Charles Hamilton Sorley (1895-1915), a young soldier who died on October 13, 2015 only a few weeks after St Augustine’s opened on its present site in Hillcrest Road, Ealing.

Five girls recited monologues composed by Caitlin Parry, a pupil in Lower VI. Words of a mother, a soldier, a young man rejected for military service, a nurse and a young woman all rang out, speaking of their experiences, their loves, their losses.

Ms Hagerty, Director of Priory 6 and teacher of drama, is offering the costumes for any World War One commemorative event. There are 100 children's soldier and nurse costumes for ages 10-12 and some for ages 11-13.
