Two enterprising Ealing residents are taking off today for a marathon charity bike ride.
Tom Woods and JC Lacour from Pitshanger Lane will be part of a Deloitte’s Ride Across Britain team attempting to ride 950 miles in nine days to raise money for Paralympics GB.
The route will take the team from John O’Groats to Land’s End, stopping only briefly for rest and supplies along the way.
The team can expect some gruelling physical times ahead – at a rate of over 100 miles a day, they will scale a total climb of two and a half times the height of Mount Everest.
“We’ve been training, but both of us are nervous,” confessed JC Lacour.
“Everyone in the team will have difficult moments, but we’ll be relying on each other to get through.”
