ORGANISERS of the Brentford Festival suspect the theft of their banner, hoisted 12 feet up in a tree, was a school boy prank.

The banner was suspended between two trees at the pond end of Boston Manor Park, but sometime between the night of Saturday, July 26 and the morning of Sunday, July 27, it disappeared.

Event manager Linda Massey said: “This is quite demoralising. We are a team of Ealing and Brentford volunteers trying to put an event together for the benefit of all the community.

“We are very disappointed to find that someone’s antisocial behaviour can have such an effect on our planning.”

Mrs Massey does not believe the theft to be malicious and thinks the fact it was done over the weekend suggests it may have been school boys looking for a challenge.

She also adds that it may have been a student from the nearby Thames Valley University Brentford campus, on their way home from a night out.

The banner, worth hundreds of pounds, is six metres long and Mrs Massey is appealing for readers to keep a look out for it.

If found, either roll it up and leave it in the park near to the spot where it disappeared, or, call Mrs Massey on 07831106973.
