PEOPLE in Bilton Road, Perivale, can look out for their street featuring in a Go Compare insurance TV advertisement after filming began there on Friday morning.
The infamous moustachioed star of the adverts, Welsh tenor opera singer Wynne Evans, 40, was spotted by eagle-eyed residents, who took to Twitter to spread the news.
One onlooker said: “They’re shooting at a bus stop in the rain. It doesn’t get much more glamorous than that.”
A member of the production team explained they chose a different location for each advert, and liked the set up in Bilton Road.
The advert appears to show fictional opera singer Gio Compero commandeering a 297 bus for an old lady who missed the previous one.
Architectural assistant Vinesh Pomal, of Federal Road, who watched the filming, said: “The recording was proving quite popular with local residents, with cars slowing down causing congestion to the already busy Bilton Road, but it's not everyday you get to see a TV crew down your local parade of shops.
“It was all rather surreal, to be honest.”
The series of adverts for the Go Compare website are regularly voted the most annoying on television – and the latest ones play up to that.
It’s not the first time the area has been used for location filming.
Perivale provided the setting for a 1989 episode of Dr Who, and parts of the area can also be spotted in Only Fools and Horses and an episode of Top Gear.
