AN EALING drummer is set to hit the big time after his band landed a contract with a major music label.
Roo Thompson, 19, and his band mates singer and guitarist Daniel Burnett and bass guitarist James Woodford, from Barnet, were entered into a competition with mobile phone company O2 by a secret fan.
The lads won the O2 Undiscovered bursary competition.
They are now hoping to hit the big time after signing with Polydor - whose stable currently includes The Ordinary Boys, the Pussycat Dolls and Snow Patrol - and released their first single, Lover in Handcuffs, this week.
Roo said: "Someone entered us, a bit of a mystery fan, we had no idea. Then all of a sudden we got calls saying we were in the final.
"It's all good - we're very much looking forward to the release of Lover in Handcuffs and the future of JAG.
"We're chuffed to bits."
And talking about his roots growing up in Ealing, Roo said: "It was just basically me and my mates getting together and using music to stay out of trouble."
The single was released on Monday and more information on the band can be found at www.jagsound.co.uk
