SRI Guru Singh Sabha, Southall, is to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award after receiving its certificate from the Earl of Wessex.
He and the Duchess met Gurmail Singh Malhi and Navraj Singh from the Gurdwara, one of the largest in Europe.
The royal guests were shown a martial arts presentation to demonstrate the physical section activities and met kitchen staff preparing food for the community as an example of the volunteering work.

Preparing for anyone who visits the community kitchen, working with elderly and young children and learning how to play musical instruments are all examples of DofE opportunities available.
Gurmail Singh Malhi, President of Sri Guru Singh Sabha, said of his young people: “They will be encouraged to push themselves outside their comfort zones when doing their DofE and the skills they develop will allow them to stand out from the crowd when applying for university or jobs.”
