THE first homes are going on sale at a huge new development in Southall.
The Green Quarter, on the former gasworks site, will eventually have 3,750 homes, with close to two-thirds of them overlooking water or green areas.
Once complete, the Berkeley West Thames development will open on to 13 acres of parkland, including an eight-acre wetlands.
Berkeley is also building a series of footbridges to open up the neighbouring 90-acre Minet Country Park in Hayes, while a section of towpath along the Grand Union Canal has been reinstated.
More than 300 homes are already finished for affordable rent or shared ownership.
