FIRE crews were called to a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a house in Oswald Road, Southall, last night (5).
An alarm had alerted the residents and firefighters used specialist equipment to confirm elevated readings.
Crews led a woman and a teenager to safety. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with suspected CO poisoning.
Firefighters isolated the gas supply and ventilated the property before carrying out a sweep of the building.
A brigade spokesperson said: “You can't taste, see or smell CO fumes, but they can kill in minutes.
"It's really important to fit a CO alarm in all rooms containing fuel-burning appliances, ensuring the alarm can be heard throughout your home.”
The brigade was called at 11.10pm and the incident was over by 1.24am. Two fire engines from Southall and a rescue unit from Wembley attended.
