MORE than 270 children from three schools in Ealing took part in a celebratory ‘booknic’ event, organised by Ealing Broadway in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.
The ‘booknic’ involved children enjoying a picnic and a book while also taking part in a range of fun reading-themed activities.
Youngsters from West Acton Primary School, St John's Primary and Woodlands Academy joined in, with each child able to take home a book of their choice.
The ‘booknic’ was part of the Young Readers Programme, sponsored by Ealing Broadway’s owner British Land.
In the past year, Ealing Broadway has also gifted 550 books to food banks, charities and community groups for children in under-privileged areas.
