Charles Broom and Sonay Kartal were the winners in Week 5 at the Aldershot Tennis Centre last month, and both are vying for glory once again.

After struggling with niggling injuries earlier on in 2021, Kartal shocked league leader Emily Appleton to triumph in Week 5.

The 19-year-old started off her week with a double-bagel victory against India Rojano and is yet to taste defeat in Chelsea after defeating Week 2 champion Eliz Maloney 6-1, 7-5 in yesterday’s quarter-final.

She will next face Danielle Daley, who is in her first Pro League semi-final of 2021 having played in every week of the event.

Daley retired in her opening round match against Tiffany William, though rebounded to beat Jojo Bach in straight sets in her final group match.

The 21-year-old then beat Jasmine Conway 6-4, 6-4 yesterday in the last eight to set up tomorrow’s clash versus Kartal.

Elsewhere, William has impressed to reach the last four on her 2021 Pro League debut.

After wins against Daley and Bach in her group, she rallied from a first-set bagel to beat Alice Gillan 0-6, 6-4, 10-2 and set up a semi-final clash against fellow first time semi-finalist Katarina Stresnakova.

Stresnakova started her week with a tight loss to Kartal, though then double bageled Rojano to progress to the last eight where she edged past Lauryn John-Baptiste 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.

Meanwhile in the men’s tournament we could see a rematch of the Week 5 final, with Broom and Julian Cash both in tomorrow’s semi-final line-up.

After beating Cash in the final in Aldershot, Broom started his week with a loss to Jack Pinnington-Jones though then comfortably beat Adam Jones to seal a last eight berth.

Broom then overcame Josh Paris 7-6(4), 7-5 in a tight quarter-final to seal his place in another Pro League semi-final, where he takes on Henry Patten.

Week 4 champion Patten overcame Cash in a tight group stage match to start his campaign, before easing past Ewan Moore to set up a quarter-final against top seed Evan Hoyt.

And, despite Hoyt’s greater experience, the 25-year-old picked up a straightforward 6-3, 6-2 victory to set up a clash between the winners of the past two weeks of the Pro League.

The other semi-final pits Week 5 runner-up Cash against Week 1 runner-up Billy Harris.

After losing to Patten, Cash picked up a tight straight-sets win over Moore to seal a last eight berth where he defeated Sean Hodkin 6-3, 7-6(5) to seal a semi-final spot.

Much like his upcoming semi-final opponent, Harris lost his opening group stage match, in straight sets to Paris.

However, he rebounded with a comfortable win against Jack Gibbens before easing past junior Wimbledon quarter-finalist Pinnington-Jones 6-1, 6-4 to claim a semi-final spot.

With a prize fund of around £500k and Broadcast live on BT Sport, The Tennis Channel and UKproleague.tv, the UK Pro League is the only place where the British player group come together to compete across the full year.
