QPR boss Mark Warburton heaped praise upon the character of his players, after they managed to secure an impressive 3-2 come-from-behind win over Preston North End.

While Rangers took the lead on 17 minutes through Lyndon Dykes, they found themselves 2-1 down shortly after half-time thanks to Preston goals for Emil Riis Jakobsen and Josh Earl.

Entering the final stages of action at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium with work to do, two late goals in three second-half minutes from Jimmy Dunne and Ilias Chair saw Warburton’s side produce a stunning fightback, to take all three points in a thrilling Championship battle.

And, the R's boss was delighted with the character his side showed in their fightback.

“The players have belief, desire and togetherness,” said Warburton. “There is a great environment in that dressing room.

“There are no bad apples, and we have a good mix of experience and youthful energy. 

“There is a nice mix and they get on well, and respect each other. They have absolute belief that they can be a very, very good team.

“There is a lot more to come from us.”

Heading into the international break, QPR now sit sixth following a strong start to the new Championship campaign, with Warburton’s side second in the league when it comes to goals scored, one behind Fulham on 22.

Since his arrival in 2019, Warburton’s side have improved their league standing in back-to-back seasons, finishing 13th and 9th in his two campaigns to date.

And the boss was delighted to be able to head into the international break on the back of their dramatic comeback win over Preston.

“We looked dangerous and you felt every time we went forward we were going to get something,” added Warburton.

“We were on the front foot and playing with intensity. When we do that we are a very good team.

“Teams work really hard to stop us and by the last 25 minutes we are on the front foot, and our fitness levels are very good.

“Preston knew we were going to attack and dominate the football as the game went on, and we did that.

“It was a really pleasing performance because that is the Championship – and they’re the bread and butter games that you have to win.

“That was a big comeback and we go into the international break with two good victories behind us.”
