GUNNERSBURY Park has won a gold and a Green Flag at this year’s London In Bloom awards.
The park played a significant role during the pandemic, with visitors saying the space was vital for their wellbeing.
The gardening team and park volunteers worked in difficult circumstances, due to changing COVID-19 restrictions.
Gold in the heritage park section is an upgrade from high silver gilt achieved last year.
“As if this news wasn’t good enough, the park has also been awarded a green flag which we will be proudly flying from our flagpole,” said park manager Chris Ellis.
“Next year we will be entering even more categories in the hope of bagging more medals.”
London In Bloom judges consider civic pride and enthusiasm, provision of flowers and plants and overall cleanliness when making their decisions.
A Green Flag is an international symbol of quality for parks and green spaces.
