A PRIMARY school in Acton, a stone’s throw away from City Harvest’s Acton is partnering with the food charity City Harvest, which is based nearby.
Ark Byron Academy in Acton Park aims to educate students about food waste, poverty and redistribution.
Since 2014, City Harvest has delivered surplus food for an average of 74,000 meals a month (worth £146,352) to Ealing charities.
Its senior food sourcing manager, Dan McAlpine, said: “This harvest festival, we have seen an urgent need for ambient food items to redistribute as we head into winter. Support from our community, especially the efforts of Ark Byron students, really helps to make a difference.”
Ark Byron Academy assistant principal Max Etherton added: “Our school shares City Harvest’s commitment to sustainability and community values.”
