A LEADING judge who has spent years inspiring Ealing law students was recognised for his outstanding work on diversity in the legal profession in this year’s New Year Honours.
Deputy Senior District Judge Tanweer Ikram was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
As well as being a senior judge and Deputy Chief Magistrate of England and Wales, Judge Ikram is a Visiting Professor at UWL’s School of Law, where he was made an honorary doctor.
Judge Ikram has played an important role providing marshalling experience on the bench for law students.
Philip Ells, Head of the School of Law, said: “He has been an inspirational and devoted guide for our students as they explore their next steps.”
