FIREFIGHTERS are sharing advice for using lithium-ion batteries after a blaze in a flat at Warple Way, Acton, yesterday (13).
Half of a four-room apartment on the third floor was damaged. One man left the building before the brigade arrived, but there were no reports of injuries.
The fire is believed to have involved a lithium-ion battery.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Batteries can present a fire risk if they’re over-charged, short circuited, submerged in water or damaged.
"Unplug devices once they have finished charging and always make sure you use the right charger for your device.”
The brigade was called at 6.09am and the fire was under control by 7.24. Crews from Acton, North Kensington, Chiswick and Park Royal attended.
