THE tireless work of hospital staff was recognised at their annual Staff Excellence Awards.

There were 14 categories at the London NW University Healthcare NHS Trust, which includes Ealing Hospital.

Chief Executive Pippa Nightingale said: “It has been a tough couple of years and everyone should be proud of what they have achieved in often difficult circumstances.”

·       Women and Children – Cerian Jones

·       Unsung Hero – Martin Browne

·       Quality and Improvement – Andrew Prentice

·       St Mark’s - Helen Lightfoot

·       Volunteer of the Year - Beryl Carr/Malcolm Wood, Dan Darko and Mr and Mrs Sivakumaran

·       Learner of the Year – Carol Dentandt

·       Covid HEART Hero – Tracey Dent

·       Special Recognition Award - Abbey Jury

·       Fundraiser of the Year - Bally Virdi / Meadow House Hospice

·       Team of the Year - Jonson ward

·       Lifetime Achievement Award – Chandra Puran

One of the most moving awards was for trainee nursing associate Abbey Jury, who saved a man from jumping off a bridge on her way home from work last Christmas Eve.

Abbey was given a Special Recognition Award after talking the man down, wrapping him in a blanket and waiting until an ambulance arrived.

Clinical Sister Chandra Puran picked up her Lifetime Achievement Award for 52 years of service.
