A SOUTHALL-raised actress will play the title role of Antigone in a new version of the play at Regents’s Park Open Air Theatre.
Zainab Hasan will appear with a large cast of actors from a Pakistani and South Asian background
The contemporary re-telling of Sophocles’s epic story has been commissioned by the theatre in its 90th anniversary year.
It looks at modern British politics and asks how compatible the British State is with the South Asian diaspora that live here now.
Zainab’s classical career at the Young Vic, the National Theatre and Royal Court Theatre is complemented by appearances on Casual (BBC One) and Maryland (BBC Two).
The production runs from September 3-24.
