LEISURE centres in Ealing borough have joined the JogOn campaign – to keep a million pairs of running shoes out of landfill.
Dormers Wells Leisure and Northolt centres, run by Everyone Active in partnership with the council, are each hosting a collection bin where people can drop off their unwanted running shoes.
These are then sent to JogOn, who ensure re-usable pairs are sent around the world to people who most need them.
JogOn estimates that every year in the UK, more than 30million pairs of shoes end up in landfill, while around the world three million people are suffering from sole diseases.
