LAND at Bollo Lane, Acton, is to be turned into 900 new homes by Barratt London, who were chosen by owners Transport for London after a bidding contest.
The site spans from Acton Town station in the north to the level crossing towards Chiswick.
It was approved for homes in January 2021 by Ealing Council, with 50 per cent of them designated as officially affordable.
Work will be in three phases, with the first comprising 195 build-to-rent homes, the second adding around 450 homes and the final phase around 250 homes.
Further land to the north in Acton could be used by the London Transport Museum, together with a further 800 homes.
Tom Copley, London Deputy Mayor for Housing said: “This is a great example of how TfL land can be used to deliver much needed homes for Londoners.”
