THE news for staff at Ealing Hospital this week was blooming marvellous after its charity agreed to provide every office in the building with an indoor plant.
Ealing League of Friends’ generous donation was backed by Kew Gardens, who sent a personal message encouraging staff to ‘green’ their workspace, as well as offering three free tickets to visit the botanical gardens.
Operation Pot Plant is offering up to 100 plants to staff but has taken the precaution of ordering the ‘indestructibles,’ a group of indoor specimens with a hardy reputation, such as the Cast Iron, ZZ and Snake.
Anne Cousins, ELoF manager, said: “We raise money for the hospital through our sandwich bar, to pay for equipment and make life a little more comfortable for patients.
“This is just an extra thank-you to staff for all their hard work.”
