GUARDIANS of the Galaxy star Will Poulter surprised a group of youngsters at a Mental Health Awareness Week event in Ealing on Monday.
He was the surprise guest of Mind in Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow (HFEH Mind) in South Ealing.
Will is the new ambassador for the charity and talked candidly with children and young people at HFEH Mind’s crisis prevention café, Circle, in South Ealing Road.
He spoke about his own struggles with anxiety and OCD when he was young and the importance of talking about mental health.
Speaking later, he said: “I’m really passionate about the subject as I was diagnosed in my teens with depression, generalised anxiety disorder and OCD.
“I grew up in and around Hammersmith and I didn’t know where to go for help when I first realised I was struggling.
“HFEH Mind provide an incredible range of services, including [this] new crisis prevention service in Ealing.”
Shadow Cabinet Minister for Mental Health, Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan, also attended the event.
