Esme Booth wants to follow up World Cup success with another triumph at the 2023 World Rowing Championships.

The three-time European Championship silver medallist helped Great Britain's women's eight team to victory at World Cup III in Lucerne earlier this summer.

Now, the Leander Club star will compete alongside Natasha Morrice, Rebecca Edwards, Lauren Irwin, Karen Bennett, Emily Ford, Hattie Taylor, Annie Campbell-Orde and cox Henry Fieldman in the women's eight before rowing alongside Ford again in the women’s pair.

And the Stratford-upon-Avon-born rower believes Great Britain's hopefuls can take belief from the result in Lucerne.

"I think it has really given us confidence," she said.

"I think coming into Lucerne we knew that if we executed it right, we were going to have a really good run.

"We were super happy with that result, and it has really helped provide that motivation for the training camp.

"We raced Henley just before and the result we got was slightly off, and I think that was the real kick that we needed to be like, ok, we can't race like that.

"We have got to follow the process and then we will get what we want from it.

"We are not thinking about the outcome, we are not thinking about winning, we are just thinking about getting to the start line in the best shape we can.

"Then we are going to give the best race that we can and see where that lands us."

With quota spots for next summer’s Olympic Games at stake in Belgrade, the World Rowing Championships are more important than ever.

Booth believes that the more experienced rowers in the squad have played a crucial role in preparing the rest of the team for the pressure.

"There are a few girls in the squad who have been at these sort of qualification World Championships before," she added.

"We have been asking them what it is like, how things change, and they have said that the racing steps up.

"Especially in the smaller boats, the smaller nations will be throwing absolutely everything at heats and semis and whatnot.

"I think we are ready for a step up in racing, it will be exciting to see, and emotions will be running high through the whole event.

"I think we always sort of focussed on what we are doing at the moment, we are almost not even thinking about the World Championship result yet.

"If you start thinking too far in advance and about Paris you can lose sight of what you are doing right now and what you need to do to get there."
