AN Ealing teacher swam the English Channel on Sunday in a relay team of five.
Fiona Johnson, of St Augustine’s Priory, the Ealing Catholic Independent school for girls, was a member of the SwimSolutions Starfish team, which swam from Dover to Calais.
They completed the swim in 16 hours and six minutes. Each took it in turns to swim for an hour and then jump back on the pilot boat to warm up, eat and rest before going again.
Fiona Johnson’s completed the cross-continental swim across the Bosphorus in August.
One of her school colleagues said: “Fiona is truly inspirational. With only two years’ training, to take on this challenge and succeed shows such determination. We’re in awe!’
The swim was in aid of Breast Cancer Now, and the JustGiving fundraising page can be found at: https://www.justgiving.com/team/swimsolutionsstarfish
