WITH Christmas on the horizon, Ealing Broadway shopping centre is calling on customers to support its growing collection of independent retailers.
Since opening in 1985, the centre has supported a variety of independents, from a stylish plant store to a range of family-run eateries and even a massage salon.
One of Ealing Broadway’s best-kept secrets, Oak Road allows shoppers to embrace local brands, while up-and-coming retailers can grow their businesses while being inspired by their neighbours.
Andrew Rollings, centre director, said: “We’re happy to be home to some of the most exciting and unique retailers in Ealing.
“We encourage visitors to get down to Oak Road, shop local and experience the unique, eclectic mix of independents we have to offer.”
Katy Marshall, co-owner of Greenka, said: “A few years ago, we passed Oak Road and imagined what it would be like to own a store here. So, opening Greenka at Ealing Broadway has been a dream come true!
“Fast forward nearly two years, we are delighted we have been able to make a career out of our passion for houseplants and aftercare.”
Some of the independents’ shoppers can discover are:
Greenka
First founded by two London mums, Katy Marshall and Aysha Tahir, in 2018, Greenka started life at a car boot sale in Chiswick. It sells tropical houseplants, succulents and cacti to pots and plant accessories.
Arise Coffee Roasters
Owner Lavender Tang had always dreamed of opening her own independent coffee shop. Now, visitors can enjoy a selection of curated coffee flavours along with cold beverages and brunch options.
Benji’s Buns
The 100% vegan bakery is the first of its kind in Ealing, with founder Ben Michael turning his hand to baking following the pandemic. Inspired by his love for cinnamon rolls, Ben honed his skills to create a series of fresh, tasty buns, with flavours ranging from original glazed and classic cinnamon to vanilla and chocolate.
The Massage Company
Founders Charlie Thomson and Elliot Walker are on a mission to buck the trend of a massage being a luxury for special occasions. The deep tissue massage is the most popular experience.
Nuts ‘n’ Stuff
A family-run business, selling roasted nuts, dry fruit, Turkish delight, grounded Turkish coffee and more.
Leonidas
It sells quality chocolates and treats at an affordable price. Ingredients are sustainably sourced and the recipes have been passed down through generations.
