A WINTER market offering free surplus food to people in need was held at Rectory Park, Northolt.
Sovereign Network Group, the housing association, teamed up with The Felix Project charity to supply food to residents at the estate’s community centre.
The market was run by volunteers from the estate, supported by SNG staff.
Food included meals which The Felix Project had collected from restaurants and which could not otherwise be sold.
Gule Hanid, one of the organisers, said: “I have had to be very careful with my weekly grocery budget.
“With that in mind and thinking about all the other residents on Rectory Park facing a similar situation, I offered to take part. It was very rewarding.”
Some of the funding for the market came from SNG’s Charitable Fund, which helps customers experiencing financial difficulties as well as paying for community initiatives.
