FOOD redistribution charity City Harvest has expanded its Acton Park base, allowing it to process an additional 60,000 meals a day.
Ealing Central and Acton MP Rupa Huq and Harriet Lamb, CEO of climate action charity WRAP, this week opened a new mezzanine floor.
It was made possible with the support of development firm SEGRO.
Harriet Lamb said: “It’s heart-warming to watch the growing success story of surplus food redistribution.”
The expansion is in response to escalating demand. The charity collects surplus food from restaurants, hotels and caterers and supplies nourishing meals.
Rupa Huq added: "It’s always inspiring to visit City Harvest. I’m full of admiration for their long-standing work supplying west London and 27 other boroughs with food.”
