PLANNING permission has been granted for a new home for the Caspian Cultural Centre and the Library for Iranian studies in Acton.

Designed by GRID Architects, the cultural centre and library are a charity housing more than 50,000 books and manuscripts.

The new centre will replace existing premises on the site next to Woodlands Park, its home for more than 30 years. It is now a state of disrepair and no longer fit for purpose.

Funds for building the cultural centre will be generated by 105 new student rooms above. Students benefit from the study space, with further shared amenity spaces on the top floor.

Since GRID’s original planning submission in 2021, significant fire safety changes have been made to the plans.
