WORK is to resume to make Northolt Tube station on the Central Line step-free after it was paused due to the pandemic.
Transport for London also plans to start design work on making North Acton (also on the Central Line) step-free.
TfL said last summer it would be reviewing 10 Underground stations across the capital for potential step-free access.
It followed feedback from accessibility campaigners and a consultation, which attracted 5,500 responses.
Construction work was about to start at Northolt when the pandemic hit. Work has now been completed to re-analyse the design, construction and costing.
Construction will start early in 2025 following the awarding of contracts.
Northolt is also on the Superloop SL9 route, linking Heathrow to Harrow. Making it step-free will open up new journey options for those travelling to Heathrow using Superloop express bus services.
Cllr Deirdre Costigan, Ealing cabinet member for climate action, said: "Ensuring equal access to transport links means all our residents can get to work and education opportunities, helping them to lead happy and fulfilled lives."
