A CRIME survey by Ealing Liberal Democrats shows borough residents believe crime and anti-social behaviour have risen in the last two years.
Main findings of their 2023/24 survey were:
- 93% of respondents do not believe there are enough visible local police.
- 64% of respondents believe there is more crime and anti-social behaviour now and only 3% believe there has been a reduction.
- 61% of respondents said they had been a victim of crime.
- People were most concerned with burglary, drug dealing, anti-social behaviour and knife crime.
- 40% of respondents thought fly-tipping was a big or very big issue.
There were nearly 500 respondents to the survey, which was conducted through social media, emails and door-to-door contact.
A previous survey in 2021 highlighted two problems: the need for better street lighting and for more officers on the beat.
Following its publication, plans to dim street lighting were axed and some ward police teams were increased.
