A BATTERY train has made its first appearance on the line from West Ealing to Greenford.
It's not yet in public service, but if the trials are a success, the pioneering Class 230 train could replace the existing diesel shuttle.
The train - converted from former District line stock - would be charged, through the rails, for three minutes between each 2.5-mile journey.
Elsewhere in trials on the GWR network, the battery train has broken records by travelling 86 miles on a single charge.
Using battery trains removes the need for overhead electric wires, which GWR says are expensive and impact the landscape.
It was spotted in this photograph by reader Mark Percy.
