A DRINK-driver was today (29) jailed for causing the death of a grandfather by dangerous driving in Greenford.
Tarnjeet Multani, 21, of Park Avenue, Southall was sentenced at the Old Bailey to nine years in prison.
He had been found guilty of causing the death by dangerous driving of Kishore Kumar Gill, 59, in Greenford Road in February 2022.
The court heard that Multani was over the proscribed limit for alcohol and was driving at around 65mph in a 20mph zone.
In a statement, the Gill family said: “Kishore had nine children and 13 grandchildren, with one on the way. He was healthy and fit, a regular gym goer and loved his family.
“It’s heart-breaking that his life was struck down at just 59, doing what he’d done hundreds of times, crossing a road to get to work.
“His youngest grandchildren will never know him. Nothing can ever replace what we’ve lost as a family but this outcome gives him justice and we can try to honour his memory.”
Ther accident happened at the junction with Bingley Road. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Mr Gill was pronounced dead at the scene.
Multani did not initially stop but halted some distance along Greenford Road a short time later.
