DETECTIVES have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was critically injured in a road accident in Southall.
They had issued an appeal for help from the public in confirming the woman's identity.
They now believe they know who she is, though work to inform next of kin continues.
Officers were called to the junction of Healum Avenue and Merrick Road yesterday (9) shortly after midnight and found an Asian woman in her 20s, who was seriously injured.
The vehicle involved had left the scene and the woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
Today (10), officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody.
Det Supt Rebecca Reeves said: "We still need to hear from anyone who might have seen events leading up to and at the time of the collision.
"The woman was dressed in light-coloured bottoms, light-coloured top and wearing sandals.
“If you saw her around the area please contact us, especially if you have dash or doorbell camera footage - it could prove vital for us."
Witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 82/09MAY. You can also provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
