LITTLE Ealing Primary School in Weymouth Avenue will represent the UK in the NFL Flag International Championships at the Pro Bowl next year,

It follows their victory, for the second time, at the NFL Flag National Championship at Loughborough.

A total of 260 children from 28 schools took to the field in the centrepiece of the UK NFL Flag Calendar.

The competition has grown markedly, with 343 schools entering events at local level, a 78% increase on last year.

Little Ealing took top spot in the Primary School (Under 11s) championship with a 26-12 win over Houghton Primary School from Cambridgeshire.

The Ealing team will now prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the US in 2025, when they will take on the world's top youth flag teams.

Flag football is the non-contact version of American Football, played by boys and girls.

Henry Hodgson, NFL UK & Ireland general manager, said: “It was incredible to see children across the country come together and compete in what was a terrific day.

“We currently have 60,000 young people from over 650 schools playing NFL Flag in the UK, and we’re committed to reaching 100,000 by 2026."
