DO you feel nervous or anxious about numbers?

Whether it’s managing household finances, helping children with numbers or trying to boost your skills for work, you are not alone. With the right support, anyone, at any age, can become confident with numbers, experts say.

Thousands of Londoners are getting help to improve their confidence on the London Multiply programme.

You can go along to Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre on August 19 to find out more.

The London Multiply Roadshow offers family-friendly activities and it’s free to attend between 10am and 3pm.

Over 300 free and flexible courses are running across London, ranging from short courses and workshops to drop-ins.

London Multiply can help you to:

Gain confidence for your next job application or interview

Move to further study, an apprenticeship or employment

Plan and manage household budgets, borrow money safely and calculate benefit entitlements

Support your child's learning, using activities like healthy cooking, board games and ICT

Take steps towards a numeracy qualification.

Wherever you want support, there's a course that can work for you.

Liz Sewell, Director of Belina GRoW, said being part of the Roadshow supported women in Hillingdon to access free numeracy learning.

“At an event in February, we were able to show what London Multiply could offer,” she added. “We took the names of women interested and worked with our local course provider to create a bespoke course they could attend together as a group.

“We needed the sessions to be in school hours, with time to drop off and pick up and for them to feel the sessions would help their family.

“Sixteen women have attended the sessions and we have only a few weeks until the end of the course, when there will be a certificate ceremony.”

Belina GRoW is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that empowers women currently outside the jobs market.
