EAGER students exceeded expectations with their A-level results at St Augustine's Priory, Ealing.

Christine Macallister, head teacher of the Catholic independent school for girls, said 26% of all grades were A* and 59% of all grades were A* to A.

In addition, 82% of all grades were A* to B and 97% were A* - C.

These results have enabled them to leading universities, including University College London, Exeter and Leeds.

They will study a variety of subjects from Computer Science to Drama, Law to Journalism. More than 90% are going to their first-choice university.

Mrs Macallister added: “Our mission statement is loud and clear when it says that‘Our Girls will Change the World.

“Our wonderful Year 13 leavers are prime examples of young women who embrace all that learning can offer.”

Special mention must go to Julia Szewczyk, Megan Ransome and former head girl Marija Vincic, who achieved all A*/A grades.

Marija said: “St Augustine’s is unique in that, being a small school, staff know you really well.” She will now begin a Language and Culture degree at UCL.

Marija's older sister, a former St Augustine’s pupil who has just graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in English Literature from St Mary’s University, was present to join in the celebrations.
