Olivia Breen just missed out on the 100m final insists it's made her more hungry for her target event at the Paralympics.

The Welsh athlete clocked 12.95 secs in her T38 semi-final to miss out on progress by just a tenth of a second.

However, she'll be back at the Stade de France for the long jump next week, the event in which she won bronze three years ago in Tokyo.

"The long jump is 100 percent my target and getting the chance to compete and get used to the stadium will only help that," said Breen, a world gold, silver and bronze medallist in the event.

"The crowd will really lift me in the long jump and I'm really excited to get back out there.

"I've experienced the Paralympics in London and this crowd really reminds me of that, after Tokyo, when no-one was there, it's just so special to have all these fans to cheer us on.”

The popular Breen, 28, was elected the British track and field team captain in Paris and insists she'll be putting any personal disappointment aside to focus on that role.

"I was trying to react to the gun but the crowd was so noisy. I don't want to give any excuses; I could have run better but things happen. I've got to remember that the long jump is still to come.

"It's a shame I won't be in that 100m final but I'll be there cheering on the other girls. Being captain is amazing, the energy and vibe is so good and we're all supporting each other, it’s such a big honour.”

Breen spent some time in French capital for the Olympics, claiming it only fired her up for the challenge of the next few days.

"Tokyo really does feel like yesterday, this has come around so fast," she added.

"Being in this stadium for the Olympics just made me so excited, with all the fans it feels like a home Games, everywhere there are British flags.

"This is so important for para sport and will be crucial for inspiring the next generation of our para athletes.

"London 2012 did a great job of letting people with a disability know that there is a sport for them, whether it's athletics or not."
