PEOPLES Unite! How Southall Changed the Country is launching at Gunnersbury Park and Museum with special guest, the award-winning journalist Kavita Puri on November 8, 6-9.30pm.

The free exhibition aims to reveal how music, creativity and activism not only defied oppression but also shaped British culture.

Visitors can explore how musicians from Southall creatively combined to influenced the British music scene.

From Jim Marshall’s  amplifiers to the rise of Dub, Reggae, Bhangraand Sound System Culture, the exhibition traces how the Sound of Southall influenced movements of resistance as well as generations of artists and DJs worldwide.

The exhibition also delves into Southall’s history of migration and grassroots activism.

Southall Resists traces the people behind the evolution of resistance, from the racial tensions in the 1970s and 1980s to the new wave of activism being driven today.

Brought to life by contributors with a deep connection to Southall, the exhibition delivers a rich, multi-sensory experience, shaped by those who know the community best.

At its core, this carefully curated exhibition showcases how hope and creativity served as tools in Southall’s resistance and can spark social change.
