EIGHT fire engines and around 60 crew were called to a blaze this morning (10) in Boston Road, Hanwell. 

The fire was in a workshop containing three vehicles. One person was rescued at the scene by crews using a ladder, but there are no reports of any injuries.

Crew members cooled a number of gas cylinders and around 50 people from adjoining properties were evacuated as a precaution. 

Traffic around the junction of Boston Road and the Uxbridge Road will be affected for some time.

The brigade's control room took the first of more than 15 calls reporting the fire at 5.04am and crews from Ealing, Southall, Acton and surrounding stations were mobilised. The fire was under control in two hours.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
