TWO days of graduation ceremonies for students at West London University took place this week at Allianz Stadium Twickenham, home of the England rugby team.
Hundreds of graduates, accompanied by their family and friends, received their degrees from UWL’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism, the Claude Littner Business School, School of Human and Social Sciences, School of Law, School of Computing and Engineering, College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare, Institute for Policing Studies, School of Medicine and Biosciences, London College of Music, Drama Studio London and London School of Film, Media and Design.
Seven honorary degrees have also been awarded, recognising inspirational people from the worlds of hospitality, law, business, nursing, music, acting and public health.
Dipna Anand is a celebrated chef, restaurateur, author and educator. His original recipes still grace the menu of her family-run restaurant, The Brilliant in Southall, established by her father, Gulu, in 1975.
Other honorary degrees went to cake specialist Jayanne Scarrott, detective Gary Linton, Simon Jones, the CEO of Living Well International, clinician Eamonn Sullivan, actor Laura Harling and music mogul Korda Marshall.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Sara Raybould shared some of the UWL highlights, with the opening of a School of Medicine and Biosciences, the Hellenic Institute of Maritime Studies and a new Digital Futures Lab, in addition to opening The Townshend Studio in tribute to rock legend Pete Townshend.
