DORCHESTER TOWN 1, BRENTFORD 0.
TRIALIST strikers Scott McDonald, who Brentford have decided not to offer a contract, and Gary McPhee both missed chances in Saturday’s friendly before being replaced for the last 45 minutes by Mark Peters and Lloyd Blackman from last season’s reserve team.
McDonald shot over with only the keeper to beat after Paul Smith’s long goal kick had put him clear, while the hard-working McPhee later hit the woodwork.
Dochester also struck the post before taking the lead in the 31st minute. A free-kick conceded by Jay Smith led to Martin Shepherd blasting the ball past the diving Paul Smith. Peters went nearest for Bees in the second period when he hit the post, but he wasted a second chance by taking too long to get in a shot which was blocked.
