Detectives are tracing a man who has offered a vital clue about the abduction of a 5-month-old baby from a car in Southall nearly 14 years ago.
Ames Glover was taken from his father's Ford Sierra while he left it parked and locked in South Rd, Southall, to get a takeaway curry, on February 5, 1990.
A massive police operation at the time of Ames' disappearance failed to trace him or his abductor, and a new appeal was made last year.
Police said a man with an African accent phoned the case incident room on October 8 last year, and left a message on an answer phone.
"He stated that Ames was taken out of the country to Ghana on the day he was reported missing," police said.
Detectives want this man to contact them on 020 8284 8561.
Detective Superintendent Gordon Briggs said people who knew about Ames' disappearance in 1990 and may have chosen not to tell police may now be ready to offer information.
"I hope that the passage of time and the offer of a £10,000 reward may encourage them to come forward," he said.
The Incident Room can be contacted on 0208 284 8561 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
