AN EALING student is about to see her artistic talents turn into reality, after winning the National Autistic Society's annual Christmas card competition.
Narin Kumbarji, 14, a pupil at the NAS's Sybil Elgar School in Ealing, has had her eye-catching design, entitled Christmas Fairy, chosen to appear on Christmas cards, that will raise money for the charity.
Judges who picked Narin's design included NAS president Jane Asher. Narin's picture was picked from a large number of entries submitted by adults and children with autism.
Her design shows a pink fairy in flight, waving a star-shaped magic wand and wearing a cute smile and golden tiara. Narin's mum, Nuray Kumbarji, said: "Narin is a very enthusiastic artist and is not afraid to experiment. Winning this competition was lovely because Christmas is her favourite time of year and money made from the cards will help NAS to continue its crucial work."
Mrs Kumbarji is also raising money, with a mouth-watering Christmas lunch, which she hopes will fetch over £1,000 for the NAS.
Ealing Times readers can help too. We're asking you to ice and glaze to help us raise £20,000 to fund a new catering kitchen at the Sybil Elgar School.
