WHILE most of us will be enjoying a meal with our families on Christmas Day, opening presents, playing games and watching films, life might not necessarily be so easy for those who live with autism.

But Ealing Times readers can help make a difference with our Angel Cakes for Autism competition.

We have teamed up the National Autistic Society (NAS) and are inviting readers to take part in our baking competition.

The competition aims to help raise £20,000 for a new catering kitchen at the NAS Sybil Elgar School in Ealing.

But you'll have to get baking, with the closing date of the competition looming on January 18, following an extension.

Autism can mean problems of social interaction, communication and imagination.

Due to this invisible nature of autism sufferers often don't look physically disabled it can be much harder to create awareness and understanding of the condition.

In Ealing alone, there are an estimated 2,830 people with autism.

Boys are four times more likely to develop the disability than girls.
