A THIRTY-nine-year-old woman who died after her car collided with a bus last Wednesday has been named as Weon Son Chai, of Princes Gardens, Acton.

The South Korean chartered accountant, who worked in Chertsey, died when her silver VW Polo smashed into the Wembley to Liverpool Street N11 double decker bus at 4.30am in Gunnersbury Avenue, Ealing.

She was taken to Ealing hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police say after hitting the car, the bus collided with a tree. The male driver suffered minor injuries and shock and was taken to Ealing hospital for treatment.

The bus was in service but there were no passengers on the bus or in the car at the time of the collision.

Police officers confirmed the crash was a head-on collision, but said it was too early to speculate about the causes of the accident.

A spokesman said: "It is very early days to be speculating if anyone is going to be charged with any offence. There is no evidence of any excessive speed as yet."

The road they were travelling on has a 30 mph restriction.

She added they were still waiting for more witnesses to come forward with information.

A post mortem into the death was opened and adjourned at Hillingdon Mortuary on Friday gave the cause of death as multiple injuries consistent with a road traffic collision.

Investigating officer Sgt Geoff Harper said: "Ms Chai's family are understandably extremely shocked by her death. I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have seen either vehicle travelling along the North Circular Road between Hanger Lane and Chiswick Roundabout to contact Alperton Traffic Garage as soon as possible on 020 8998 5319."

At the time of going to press the family were unavailable for comment.
