COMMUNITY groups and local residents are being encouraged to contibute ideas for council-funded projects dedicated to the improvement of Hillingdon's outdoor environment.
The council anticipates to set aside around £900,000 for Chrysalis environmental improvement schemes to be funded in 2007/2008.
Now local people are being asked to continue putting forward their suggestions for environment and community safety improvement schemes on council owned land for consideration later this year.
Some of the projects recently completed as part of the 2006/2007 funding include:
- A residential parking improvement scheme at Laurel Lane in West Drayton, providing extra spaces to mitigate on-street parking around the road bend.
- Improved football pitch drainage at Northwood recreation ground off Chesnut Avenue.
- New alley-gates securing properties at Trevor Crescent in South Ruislip, Floriston Avenue, Hillingdon and Woodrow Avenue in Hayes.
Cllr Douglas Mills, cabinet member for improvement, partnership and community safety, said: "We welcome bids for funding from local residents, community groups or individuals especially if they demonstrate wide support for their proposals.
He added: "We are particularly keen to hear about suggestions that will enhance community safety, improve the local environment and community assets such as parks and leisure facilities and bring in extra security measures from security shutters and gates, to lighting and CCTV."
If you have any views on projects the Chrysalis programme could cover in the next year, contact Ian Geddes, Chrysalis programme manager, on 01895 277830 or email igeddes@hillingdon.gov.uk.
- The closing date for applications is September 30 and a panel of councillors will consider all bids in December.
