A VAN narrowly missed four pedestrians after the driver allegedly suffered a diabetic attack in Boston Road, Hanwell, on Sunday.

The vehicle smashed into a lorry before coming to rest outside the Nissan garage near the Uxbridge Road at around 2.30pm.

Luckily, nobody was injured in the incident.

Simone Kellie, from Hanwell, was walking along the road near the zebra crossing when the van came careering towards them.

"The van nearly killed us," she said. "We had to jump into a shop doorway to escape being hit.

"Everyone came out of their shops to see it. It ended up further down the road after it hit a lamppost."

London Ambulance Service said they could not comment on what caused the crash, but said the driver was checked and did not need hospital treatment.

Miss Kellie said the latest crash was just one of a number that had occurred on the road in the past year. "Something needs to be done," she said. "This road is really, really dangerous. The pavement is really narrow and people never stop at the zebra crossing.

She has now contacted local councillors to raise awareness about the danger of the road.

"I want to do something about it," she added.

A feasibility study is being undertaken by Ealing Council to assess what traffic calming measures may be put in place on the road.
