A MAN was stabbed in a random attack which police have described as "particularly vicious".
Police were called to the Medical Centre, in Mattock Lane, Ealing at around 12 midnight on Sunday and found the 52 year-old victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
He was attacked from behind and knocked to the ground by a single blow to the head. The suspects stabbed him while he lay on the ground.
Officers administered first aid until an ambulance arrived to take him to a West London hospital.
His condition is described as serious but stable.
Speaking from the scene of the crime the investigating officer, DS Craig Leonard, appealed for witnesses to come forward.
He said: "This was a particularly vicious, unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public. I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or seen four men in the vicinity prior to the attack acting suspiciously to contact me. All information will be dealt with confidentially."
The four suspects are described as black, aged between 16 to 19 years old and wearing dark hooded tops. They were last seen running westbound along Mattock Lane.
