THE Ealing Times is again inviting applications from local charities and community groups for grants from the Gannett Foundation, the charity set up by the parent company of our publishers, Newsquest.

The Gannett Foundation is the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc, owner of the Newsquest Media Group, one of the UK's largest publishers.

What is the Gannett Foundation Fund?

The Gannett Foundation provides funding to support local organisations in the area where Newsquest operates in the UK. The Greater Bristol Foundation, on behalf of the Gannett Foundation and Newsquest, manages the fund.

What does the Gannett Foundation support?

The Gannett Foundation supports projects which take a creative approach to fundamental issues such as education and neighbourhood improvements, economic development, youth development, community problem solving, assistance to disadvantaged people, environmental conservation and cultural enrichment.

Is there anything that is definitely excluded from getting a grant?

Grants will not be given to: l Individuals l Organisations which are not registered charities l National or regional organisations unless the project addresses specific local community needs l Promotion of religious causes l Endowment funds l General appeals or multi-year campaigns l Medical or research organisations l Animal charities What size of grant can we apply for?

Grants will be for between £1000 and £5000 but larges grants may be made for exceptional projects How can I apply?

Applications must be submitted on the approved application form, which must be obtained from your local Newsquest newspaper office.

The completed form should be sent to the local newspaper office address.

When should I apply?

Grants are made twice a year. The times are publicised in the local newspapers.

Are there any conditions of grants?

The newspaper will expect you to co-operate with reasonable arrangements for publicity for any grant given.
