QPR are set to sign former Liverpool youngster Elijah Dixon-Bonner to boost their midfield options ahead of a frantic run of fixtures in October.
Rangers face three games in six days, starting on Saturday with a trip to Bristol City, who manager Michael Beale says will be in and around promotion come the end of the season.
After an international break that Beale said he “didn’t want”, QPR have 12 games before the Championship season is paused for the World Cup in mid-November.
But The Hoops’ squad is looking strong, with Rob Dickie back in training on Friday, and Beale suggested there will be another addition in the form of Dixon-Bonner.
“It’d be stupid of us not to look at a Londoner like that,” said Beale. “He obviously played for Liverpool in the FA Cup, starting at Anfield in January and did very, very well, spending pretty much the whole of last season training with Liverpool’s first team.
“He’s very similar in style to a Luke Amos, who’s obviously one of our key players.
“We’ve got a really packed crowded squad, so if we were to take him it’d be that I feel he’s got enough potential and there will be news imminently.
“It will edge towards the positive side but he’s obviously got to go for a medical and things like that. He is a boy that I like, so you can take from that what you need.”

There was more positive news over the international break, as Lyndon Dykes scored twice off the bench against Ukraine.
And Beale is hoping the 26-year-old will use the boost of confidence to add to his one-goal tally this season.
“I’m delighted for him personally because goals are a big thing for a striker,” said Beale.
“I talk about his all-round game and his effort and his energy which has always been excellent for the team.
“He’s a very good team player, but ultimately the number on his back dictates that he needs to score goals. So it was a really nice personal moment for him.”
Looking ahead to the weekend, Beale also had a word of praise for the opposition, after Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson said QPR would be challenging for promotion in midweek.
Beale said in response: “They’ll be in the promotion mix up as well. They’re one of the top goal scoring teams in the league.
“I think he’s a very, very good manager. I don’t take anything from the previous two games because they’ve had probably the two toughest away games of the season, going away to Burnley and to Norwich and losing narrowly in both games.
“So I think they’ll come into this game in a really good place. Nahki [Wells] is doing well up front for them, as is Tommy Conway and [Andreas] Weimann in behind.
“They’ve got a good team and I’m expecting a tough game. I think it’s a game that will have goals.”
