Lucas Schmid and Lucas Friday reflected on dream debuts for Harlequins after starring in their side's Premiership Rugby Cup bonus-point victory over London Scottish.
Quins expertly dispatched Scottish 35-22, with number eight Schmid on the scoresheet after collecting Friday's offload to finish off a superb team-try in the first half.
And the duo could not hide their delight after a memorable debut outing for the senior team alongside fellow academy product Jimmy Staples.
“It’s unbelievable - I’ve dreamt of making my Harlequins debut since I was a kid,” said Schmid.
“I found out in the team meeting when the team selection was shared with the squad - I almost started shaking. It’s a super proud moment.
“The last time we combined like that was back in the Under-18s league, so it’s been a few years now! He is a great boy and a great rugby player - he made life really easy for me at the back of the scrum.”
Friday added: “I’m buzzing to make my debut, and to do it with Stapes [Jimmy Staples] as well. I have been with him since the academy, so for us to two to get on the pitch is a brilliant feeling - I’m happy we got the win.
“ For him [Lucas Schmid] to get a try on his debut is really special. It was like we were back to our Under-18 days and doing that for fun.”
Harlequins are next in action against Ealing Trailfinders at The Stoop in three days' time, and Friday hopes to leave no room for complacency ahead of the clash.
He added: “There are a lot of things to work on in terms of our gameplan. We executed for about 30 minutes, but we want to be an 80-minute team and that’s something we need to work on going into Ealing next week. They’re a strong team, so if we do that we’ll have a good opportunity to get the win.
“It’s a big training week ahead. We’ll review the game and identify the areas we need to work on and be ready to rip in for another week.”
Elsewhere, the women's side made it three wins from three in the PWR as they overcame Bristol Bears 34-19 at Shaftesbury Park.
Hosts Bristol broke the deadlock early on two minutes with a converted try out wide from Millie David but Quins struck back through Lagi Tuima's conversion after Kayleigh Powell's score.
Just three minutes later, Powell came close to scoring against her former club again and while she was denied inside Bristol's 22, Lauren Torley finished the job to take the advantage before the fleet-footed Ellie Kildunne and another penalty from Tuima helped Quins to a 20-19 lead heading into the break.
The visitors opened the second-half scoring on 66 minutes with replacement hooker Carys Phillips powerfully crashing over from close range before Tuima extended their lead 27-19.
Quins then added in another for the last action of the half with Alex Callender racing through to score in the corner before Tuima converted the extras to give Harlequins a 34-19 bonus-point win.
Quins are in action on November 10th, welcoming Sale Sharks to The Stoop.
